02 / HVAC maintenance

Comfort starts
with someone who cares.

A new system can still deserve a closer look. A hidden crawlspace can hide more than equipment. And an expensive repair quote deserves clear answers. I’m Pershaun (KP), a full-time HVAC technician here to help you understand your system, prepare for the season, and feel comfortable asking questions.

Before the season asks more of your system

Build a relationship.
Not just a repair bill.

Having a technician who knows your equipment gives you someone to call before a small concern becomes an urgent one. Maintenance can uncover dirty components, drainage problems, and developing faults before heavy seasonal use puts more demand on the system. It cannot prevent every failure, but it can help you plan repairs and avoid some costly surprises.

Start with $99 Basic Maintenance per visit, or a focused $185 HVAC Inspection per unit. Maintenance members have the $149 diagnostic fee waived; repair work is quoted separately. I’m also happy to offer a free second opinion on a repair quote.

From the field / Told by KP

There’s a home.
And a person behind it.

These visits are why I believe in taking a careful look, explaining what I find, and treating every customer’s home with care.

01 A newer system

“It’s only two years old.”

A new customer booked me for heating maintenance on a system another company had installed. When we met, he mentioned that it was only two years old, so he didn’t expect anything to be wrong. I understood—and hoped everything would check out, too. I explained that I’d take a careful look, clean the appropriate components, check its operation and safety controls, and look for leaks.

Before I found the source of the problem, I noticed how badly rusted the inside was. Then I traced the leak to a failed solenoid valve on the humidifier. For equipment that was only two years old, the corrosion was striking—to me, it looked more like the inside of an 18-year-old system.

I showed the customer what I’d found and explained the situation. I replaced the failed valve, rewired its connection to the control board, and tested the humidifier’s operating cycle to confirm it was working properly.

I felt for him. He had every reason to expect his newer equipment to be in good condition. That visit is a reminder of how much damage an unnoticed leak can cause in just a year or two, and why regular maintenance matters even when a system is new. Catching a concern sooner gives you a chance to address it before more damage develops.

Newer doesn’t mean it never needs attention. My goal is to help you protect what you’ve invested in—and explain what I find along the way.

3½ hoursOne visit. A much closer look.

The crawlspace told a different story.

Before a maintenance visit, a customer mentioned that he thought something was leaking beneath the house. I told him I’d inspect the wet areas while checking the HVAC system and expected it to take about an hour. The visit became roughly three and a half hours of maintenance, inspection, and troubleshooting.

The equipment was tucked beneath the home, behind webs and what felt like hundreds of spiders. My flashlight caught dust and debris in the air. The filter was black and heavily loaded. This wasn’t a reason to blame the customer: when equipment is that difficult to reach, problems can stay out of sight.

What I observed
  • A failed condensate pump clogged with dirt and old webs, with moisture around the equipment.
  • Heavy buildup and mold-like growth on the pump, PVC piping, and furnace cabinet.
  • Rust around supply components and inside the furnace cabinet, plus a thick dark layer of dust and debris in the ductwork.
  • The system shutting down during the visit, requiring further troubleshooting.

The air was uncomfortable enough that I stepped out of the crawlspace for fresh air. The family also mentioned allergies and feeling unwell. I couldn’t determine the cause of those symptoms—or identify mold or bacteria by sight—but the dampness, buildup, and equipment concerns needed to be explained clearly.

Further troubleshooting revealed several issues contributing to the shutdown, including a rusted flame sensor. I addressed the flame-sensor issue, replaced the humidifier and condensate pump, installed a safety wet switch, and cleaned and repiped the PVC condensate trap. I completed the repairs on site and restored the heat. The family was happy that I could handle the work during the visit and get their system running again.

What kept me focused was giving the customer a thorough account of what I found. They deserved more than a quick filter change and a goodbye.

That visit is a reminder of how much can go unnoticed in a space you rarely see. An inspection helps bring visible concerns into the conversation so you can decide what needs attention.

03 A second set of eyes
$2,000Saved on this neighbor’s repair.

A $3,600 quote.
A different conversation.

A neighbor came to me with a $3,600 quote for a blower motor repair. I took a look and was able to help him resolve it for about $2,000 less. When he offered to pay me for my help, I declined. After hearing about my business, he chose to make a contribution to IKPVISION instead.

For me, the meaningful part was helping someone feel less overwhelmed by a big repair decision. Every job is different, and that saving isn’t a promise for another repair. It is a good example of why asking for another opinion can be worthwhile.

You should feel comfortable asking what a repair includes, why it’s needed, and what your options are.

A focused look at your system

HVAC inspections.

Buying a home, concerned about your equipment, or planning ahead? I’ll evaluate the accessible heating and cooling equipment, review operation where conditions allow, and explain concerns that may need attention.

  • Visible equipment condition and installation concerns
  • System operation, temperature checks, and accessible electrical components
  • Blower, fan, and accessible airflow components
  • Findings explained in plain language, with suggested next steps

Finding a concern early could help you avoid repair surprises costing hundreds or thousands of dollars. The value depends on the equipment, its condition, and what the inspection uncovers.

This service focuses on evaluation. Cleaning and maintenance are available through the plans above. HVAC Inspections are $185 per unit. Share your system details so we can confirm the number of units and the inspection scope before booking.

An additional layer of air-quality care

ActivePure air scrubber.
$999 installed.

For customers looking to add another layer of air treatment, I recommend discussing an ActivePure air scrubber alongside regular maintenance, appropriate filtration, and ventilation. I’ll review your HVAC setup and confirm the suitable model and installation details before work begins.

  • Discreet installation within compatible HVAC ductwork
  • Air treatment while your HVAC system is running
  • ActivePure reports reductions in certain airborne and surface contaminants, including tested bacteria, viruses, and mold, under its stated test conditions
  • The manufacturer also reports reductions in certain odors and VOC gases; performance depends on the model and conditions

Ductwork can remain in a home for many years, and dust can accumulate. That alone doesn’t establish that mold or bacteria are circulating throughout your home. I’ll help you consider filtration, visible buildup, moisture concerns, and equipment condition so any recommendation fits your home.

An air scrubber does not remove settled duct debris, correct a moisture problem, or replace regular filter changes. Results vary with the model, airflow, system runtime, and home conditions; it is not a guarantee of disease prevention.

Care you can understand

Your safety. Your comfort.
A clearer picture.

I want you to understand how your system is performing—not just hear that it’s running. Maintenance includes visual and physical checks, current operating readings, and comparison with applicable manufacturer specifications. I’ll explain what looks healthy, what may need repair, and what you can plan for down the road.

During heating-season service, I’ll check the furnace’s safety controls using manufacturer procedures and test for carbon monoxide in the supply air while the furnace operates. Any concern gets explained clearly, along with the next steps. These checks reflect conditions during the visit and complement working CO alarms in your home.

Small issues such as dirty components or a worn electrical part can turn into an inconvenient breakdown. Regular maintenance can catch some of these concerns early, helping reduce avoidable failures, surprise visits, and diagnostic costs. It can’t prevent every failure, but it helps you make informed decisions before a problem grows.

I care about the people who depend on your system. I’ll listen to your concerns, explain your options, and be happy to help meet your needs.
